Only a quarter of people find the current CO2 pricing in the transport and heating sector acceptable. In addition, around three quarters of respondents feel poorly informed or not informed at all about CO2 pricing. This is the result of a study by the Institute for Macroeconomics and Business Cycle Research (IMK) of the Hans B\u00f6ckler Foundation. The authors of the study therefore consider better information to be useful in order to increase the acceptance of CO2 pricing.<\/p>\n
According to the study, many people significantly overestimate their current financial burden due to the C02 price. They assume annual costs of 396 euros per year. According to the authors of the study, these are actually 192 euros. However, the future costs are underestimated. While experts assume average annual costs of EUR 853 per household in 2027 at an average price of EUR 200 per tonne of CO2, the respondents only assume EUR 564.<\/p>\n
Respondents are also in favor of the revenue from the carbon price being refunded to lower-income households in particular (17%). They also want to relieve the burden on households that are particularly affected by carbon pricing (8%).
