Can investors reduce the number of parking spaces required for new residential construction and can this save space if there are subway stations, car-sharing services or rental bike systems in the immediate vicinity? How many parking spaces are still needed? What legal conditions need to be taken into account? The German Institute of Urban Affairs (Difu) investigated these questions on behalf of the Bavarian Ministry of Construction and Transport. In addition to the results, Difu has now also published a calculation tool to provide information on this.<\/p>\n
This calculation tool is an Excel list in which, among other things, information can be provided on the costs for the neighborhood, the parking spaces and the measures for a mobility concept. The aim is to provide local authorities and investors in particular with information on when a mobility concept is worthwhile on the basis of a cost-benefit calculation. Experts from science, local authorities and housing and transport companies have contributed their practical knowledge to the feasibility study.
