To optimize heating, the consumer advice center advises, among other things, to regulate the thermostat valve. If private individuals lower the room temperature from 24 to 20 degrees Celsius, for example, consumption can be reduced by around 20 percent. Consumption can also be reduced by means of a heating control system. Energy can also be saved by taking measures such as insulating the top floor and basement ceiling, replacing old pumps with high-efficiency pumps and sealing windows and doors.<\/p>\n
Private individuals can also save energy with regard to water, for example by taking colder and shorter showers and using water-saving shower heads with a water flow rate of less than nine liters per minute. Electricity consumption can be reduced, for example, by only switching on the Wi-Fi when it is needed. When it comes to lighting, private individuals should opt for LEDs. Energy can also be saved by using the most economical device: \"Smartphones consume less power than tablets. Tablets consume less power than notebooks. And notebooks consume less power than desktop PCs,\" says the energy advice from the consumer advice center.<\/p>\n
